About Our Veterinary Practice

A local dairy farmer and 50/50 sharemilker, Daniel is passionate about farming and cows. Growing up in Te Awamutu as part of a farming family, Daniel's childhood memories revolve around life on the farm. After studying at Lincoln University he returned home to the Waikato to start his farming career as a sharemilker in 2008.

Daniel appreciates the value veterinary input has had for his business and has encouraged Katie to help more and more farmers over the years. He believes experienced dairy vets, consistent service and competitive prices deliver results even in low-payout years. Daniel especially enjoys having a yarn with clients - mostly about farming.

Katie grew up in the Scottish countryside surrounded by farm animals and pets. Animal-mad for as long as she can remember, it was her caring nature and passion for animals that made becoming a vet the ideal job for her.

Graduating from Glasgow University in 2008, Katie worked in a busy mixed practice in the UK before moving to Te Awamutu in 2009 to work as a dairy vet. She gained her RCVS Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Cattle Health and Production in 2017 and completed her Masters in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 2021, focusing on mastitis, big data and epidemiology.

Katie is an RCVS-recognised Advanced Veterinary Surgeon in Cattle Health and Production - the only vet recognised at this level in New Zealand. In 2024 she also became a Dairy Consultant at the University of Edinburgh and a farm-animal lecturer. She is happy to accept referrals in any area of cattle health and production.

Dr Paula is a busy dairy farmer on her local Jersey farm as well as a veterinarian. Having spent most of her career as a dairy vet, Paula is experienced with farm animals and still enjoys pregnancy scanning. Over the past few years she has completed specialised training in small-animal dentistry and enjoys challenging dental cases and complex surgery.

Dr Sarah is a true mixed-practice veterinarian who you'll find both at the clinic and out on farm. She works on Saturdays and part-time during the week to assist the clinic in between her busy family schedule.

Dr Ale has seven years of experience as a small-animal GP and also brings valuable experience working with dairy cattle. Originally from Brazil, she has called New Zealand home for almost a decade. Ale lives locally with her husband, a dairy farmer, and their two teenage kids, so she understands rural life and the important role animals play in our families and communities.

When she's not at the clinic, Ale loves camping and the outdoors, as well as baking, gardening and sewing. At home she has quite the animal family: Rex her Border Collie, Caramello her ginger cat, and eight pet chooks!

Amanda is an experienced Diploma-qualified veterinary nurse and is passionate about all things animals. She enjoys running the vet-nurse clinics - arthritis, diabetes management, weight loss, dental health and juvenile checks - and enjoys dental surgical procedures and assisting with complex cases, including alongside visiting dental specialist Dr Crystal Loh.

Gemma joined the team in 2025, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience. A passionate and experienced veterinary nurse, she loves caring for animals and supporting their owners through every step of their pet's health journey. With a strong background in both general practice and emergency care, she brings a calm, compassionate approach and a keen eye for detail.

Outside the clinic, Gemma enjoys playing squash and making the most of the outdoors - especially camping and exploring with her partner.
